EMERGENCY MEDICINE: APPLICATION FOR FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP

The Senate of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria has approved training in the newly created Faculty of Emergency Medicine and will commence training in the specialty from 2021. To improve the number of trainers, the College is inviting Fellows of the College and other Colleges who have been formerly trained in Emergency Medicine to its foundation Fellowship programme.

To qualify for this programme, the doctor must be a Fellow of the College:

  • with a minimum of 8 years post fellowship or 20 years post-graduation from the medical school
  • must have supervised a minimum of 8 Part II fellowship dissertations in core EM or Allied specialties with at least 5 publications in reputable journals.
  • must be certified in at least one of the EM – related courses e.g. BLS, ALS, APLS, ATLS, ALSO, Polytrauma course, etc.

Other trained Emergency physicians or Fellows in Emergency medicine of other Colleges who meet the eligibility criteria of NPMCN can also apply.
